Microsoft to DOS: Drop Dead

Tuesday April 25 by Eric has a story up on the ways in which Windows ME is at least attempting to make it look like it's dropping DOS. Basically, instead of going full bore with Win2k and really giving DOS the boot, it looks like Microsoft is just going to cripple the DOS that's already there! So, as I see it, the goal is to keep what sucks about DOS (being tied to an outdated legacy system) and get rid of what makes it at all useful (the power of a CLI).
